These alloys are part of the zinc aluminium alloy family and are distinguished from other ZA alloys due to their constant 4% aluminium composition. The name “zamak” is derived from the German names for the metals in the alloy: Zink (zinc), Aluminium, Magnesium, and Kupfer (copper)
